Okanagan Natural Hoof Care

Natural Hoof Care; Barefoot Trimming, Hoof Rehab, and Hoof Boot Fitting for the Thompson Okanagan, Okanagan Similikameen & Okanagan Valley

Howdy! I am Bruce Goode, the owner of Lone Pine Ranch near Vernon, BC, and a member of the growing number of Canadian holistic equine therapists in western Canada. I am an AANHCP Certified Natural Hoof Care Practitioner and an EasyCare® Dealer and Hoof Care Advisor and I operate a hoof trimming and boot-fitting business headquartered here at Lone Pine Ranch. I also provides hoof rehab services for navicular syndrome, laminitis, and other hoof pathologies.
My  website address is www.hooftrack.com

As a Field Instructor and Natural Trim Workshop clinician for the AANHCP, I train hoof care professionals and also offer clinics for owners interested in learning to trim and boot their own horses. In my hoof care clinics, we explore going barefoot vs shod, the natural diet, natural horse keeping and holistic horse care in general. At my Natural Trim Workshops, horse owners learn the basics of natural hoof care by practicing the AANHCP sanctioned "6-Step Trim" on cadaver hooves before progressing to trim live horses.

I enjoy discussing the benefits of natural horse boarding and natural hoof care with horse industry professionals and horse owners. If you are interested in learning more about the barefoot trim, participating in a hoof trim clinic or finding a natural hoof care provider as an alternative to using a conventional farrier in the Thompson Okanagan, Okanagan  Similkameen, and Okanagan Valley, please contact me in Vernon at 250-545-6948.

About the AANHCP

The Association for the Advancement of Natural Horse Care Practices (AANHCP), founded in 2002 by former farrier Jaime Jackson, is dedicated to promoting natural hoof care and natural horse keeping practices for domestic horses worldwide.  The AANHCP is and has been the leading force in the natural care revolution now sweeping the horse world.  As the leading pioneer of natural hoof care, the AANHCP bases its philosophy, methods, advocacy, and research goals on credible science and on our working model – the free-roaming wild horse ofthe US Great Basin.

                                             Oregon Wild Horses

A barefoot horse is a marvel of the natural world, witness American's wild horses of the Great Basin. Such a horse can move rigorously and without pain over the roughest terrain, and without any hoof protection except what nature has given him from birthright. He lives his life without shoes and his feet do not suffer from it. Health and hoof disorders that plague his domestic cousins everywhere are unknown to him. Are our domestic horses exempt from such good fortune? The answer is No.

Through genuine natural hoof care and natural horse keeping practices, your equine can enjoy the same health with sound, tough hooves. Let the skilled "holistic practitioners" of the AANHCP show you how to transform your horses' body and feet -- even if the latter are brittle and weak or suffering from an "incurable" disease -- into the "natural horse" nature has intended all along.

Keeping it Natural

All of our ranch horses, working draft horses, lesson horses, and our "dude string" are either barefoot or are fitted with EasyCare® boots while on the job. Most of our guests have remarked that they have never before seen boots for horses. I enjoy discussing with these folks the most recent developments in hoof care, since it falls right in line with my passion for "keeping it natural" with our horses.

Various equine activities hosted at the ranch include horsemanship clinics, natural hoof care clinics, draft horse clinics, winter ski-joring, Back Country Horsemen events, and an endurance competition.

As a natural hoof care provider, my clients include performance and pleasure horses, draft horses, ponies, donkeys, mules, and miniatures. I also work with rehabilitation cases and have several years of experience in laminitis, navicular syndrome, wry foot, WLD and other pathological conditions.
